Each year we are really lucky to meet, or sometimes just speak to many dozens of amazing people, all with adventure on their minds. This is one of the most constructive and fantastic feedback emails that we received from one of our customers earlier in the season. I think she captures her sense of achievement wonderfully and we are delighted that we could help her to meet a goal.
"We cannot thank you enough for our amazing trip. From the first email through to now you have been outstanding. When I first emailed you, your response was prompt and very detailed. Then after personal problems you were still able to arrange our trip at very short notice. The information provided before our trip was excellent with plenty of detail and our excitement built daily!
Our arrival in Tynemouth was brilliant as the hotel was wonderful and our room large with a sea view. The sun was shining and life was good! Unfortunately on Tuesday morning we rose to rain and wind and although we thought this would be the least pretty day we were pleasantly surprised with the casual ride up to Amble. Our accommodation at Amble was simple but excellent service. We arrived At about 1.30 dripping wet and they happily showed us to our room where our bags and hot shower was waiting. I was so grateful to how accommodating they were and we very much enjoyed the food there. Luckily on weds morning the sun was out and the mood was high. A good ride up to Bamburgh with a beautiful detour to Craster for lunch. Our accommodation at Bamburgh was very good and the food excellent but slightly more expensive to dine there in the evening.
On Thursday we set out to Berwick our favourite day of cycling with sandwiches on the beach ! Again it was dry. Our arrival at our B and B in Berwick was a pleasant surprise. It was outstanding. Every little detail had been thought of and our hostess was amazing at recommending places to eat etc... Breakfast was wonderful and I can say I have never stayed anywhere so lovely even though my opinion of Berwick is that it is a bit run down. This was the diamond stay of our trip. On Friday we cycled up to Dunbar and the weather was mainly good. This was a tough day!! A couple of long tough climbs, along with our only flat tyre made it a real challenge ! On reaching Dunbar we found our accommodation which was basic and a little bit tired. It was comfy and the shower was good but it was expensive to eat there and 10 minute walk into the town. We ate at the local Indian restaurant which was very good and we slept well.
On sat we cycled to Edinburgh. A nice ride but a nightmare in Edinburgh on a sat in August festival season!!! Very, very busy and difficult to cycle for the last mile or 2 as people everywhere. Waverley station has excellent bike storage facilities so we were able to lock the bikes up and head into to town for a much needed bottle of wine to celebrate our achievement! The trains all worked out really well so we got back to Dunbar easily. We ate that night at our accomodation and although expensive a nice meal.
Overall the trip has been wonderful. The baggage transfers were excellent and our bags were always there before us! The accommodation was excellent, the Berwick B and B was just in another league. This was our first tour and we have enjoyed it more than we ever thought we would. I am not a natural cyclist and I certainly am over weight however this was a personal challenge following a long battle with severe depression. Cycling has helped me so much and this trip was just wonderful. A few tears were shed as I never thought i could achieve the full trip and had various plans to bail out if needed - but none of this was needed. I only had to push a couple of times!
Trailbrakes have been amazing and the level of service we have received has been outstanding. I agree it is a shame we never meet but I feel like I know you as there has always been the personal touch. I would recommend Coast and Castles particularly for virgin tourers! Bit even more so I would tell anyone planning a trip to use trailbrakes as you have been amazing. We hope in the future to do more touring as we now have the bug! We will not hesitate to use your services again and I look forward to planning our next trip.
Thank you so much for everything we really have appreciated everything"
...for us it was a wonderful experience to bike the West Highland Wayhey. We miss the Scottish scenery already, together with all the friendly people we met. We would like...
